Many people are unaware that there is a world-leading company located in Vancouver,
BC Canada. Product is manufactured, tested, designed and sold from facilities
based in Vancouver. Don't be confused by some other companies who's name suggests
Canadian made solar when in fact the product is made in China.
Day4 modules are primarily designed for the grid-tie marketplace, and as such,
operates at voltages that require careful design. MPPT controllers will easily
work with this. Basic controllers like the C40 and Sunsaver series are not suited
to Day4 product.
The core of Day4 Energy's technological advantage is the patented Day4 Electrode
that is used to inter-connect photovoltaic (PV) cells. This technology represents
a fundamental change in the way that both PV cells and PV modules are built.
The Day4 Electrode is comprised of a polymer film embedded with a number of
specially coated copper wires. These wires are coated with a proprietary low-temperature
melting point alloy and are designed to establish a low-resistance electrical
contact with the surface of the PV cell. The Day4 Electrode is a direct replacement
of the conventional PV cell soldering process that is currently widely used
in the industry.
By reinventing the way solar modules are constructed, the Day4 Electrode improves
power output, lifetime and aesthetic appearance. At the same time, the Day4
Electrode represents an enabling platform for design and commercial implementation
of the next generation of PV cell concepts that is not possible with the current
solder-based approach to module assembly.
Day4 products allow for some of the industry's leading levels of performance
in terms of energy generated per rated watt of power. These performance levels
are validated by on-going third party field performance data at various test
sites around the world. Day4 Energy continues to focus efforts on research and
development in the quest to advance photovoltaic technology and achieve cost
parity for solar energy.
